各位朋友：

【請即登記】3月13日論壇 討論創新科技發展

早前學界和申請資助進行科研的朋友較關心的，是創新及科技基金的50億元注資撥款申請。由於注資對很多研發中心和項目有直接影響，我邀請多位科研學者與立法會議員會面，親自解釋通過撥款的逼切性，幫助議員理解基金對項目的影響，最終撥款亦能於2月27日順利通過。

至於特首早前宣布委任行政長官創新及科技顧問，領導將改組的創新及科技諮詢委員會收集各界有關創新科技發展方面的意見，並向政府提交建議。為此，我將會聯同IT呼聲於本星期五晚3月13日舉辦資訊科技界研討會談論創新及科技發展，及對創新及科技局的期望。邀請各位關心成立創科局的朋友，和持不同意見的IT界人士踴躍參與，集思廣益，積極討論，向政府提交意見和實際建議。

另一方面，就公眾對「新一代智能身份證」的關注，我的辦事處亦聯同香港互聯網協會、香港專業資訊保安協會及(ISC)2香港分會於3月20日（下週五）合辦了一場「解構新一代智能身份證研討會」，邀請了曾參與澳門新一代智能身份證的專家討論技術細節，歡迎各位朋友報名參加。

Please Join Inno & Tech Policy Discussion Forum on March 13

IT people in R&D or who have been working with funding from the Innovation and Technology Fund (ITF) may be aware of the funding proposal of $5 billion to replenish the dwindling balance of the fund. As the ITF directly supported the work of R&D centres and many projects, before the proposal reached the Finance Committee, I invited several academics and researchers to meet with LegCo members to explain the urgency of ITF fund injection and understanding the impact. The funding proposal was finally passed on February 27.

The CE’s appointment of Innovation & Technology adviser and announcement of revamping the Innovation & Technology Advisory Committee to collect views and formulate recommendations have intrigued many people. To carry on the conversation that ensued from the ITB proposal, my office and IT Voice will co-organize a discussion forum (in Cantonese) on March 13 (Friday evening) to discuss innovation and technology policy development. I very much hope to have you there, no matter what your view on the ITB is, and will endeavor to convey your views to the government.

On the other hand, my office will co-organize a “New Smart ID Technical Seminar” with Internet Society Hong Kong, Professional Information and Security Association Hong Kong and (ISC)2 Hong Kong Chapter on March 20 (next Friday night) in response to the security and privacy concerns over the proposed next generation Smart HKID card. You are more than welcome to join a group of experts including those who have worked on the Macau Smart ID card project to learn more.
